scientific name

Drymaria cordata (L.) Roem. & Schult.
status

Holosteum cordatum Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 1: 88. 1753 View Cited Treatment .

"Habitat in Jamaica, Surinama." RCN: 738.

Lectotype (Burger in Cafferty & Jarvis in Taxon 53: 1052. 2004): [icon] "Alsine Americana Nummulariae foliis" in Hermann, Parad. Bat.: 11. 1698.

Current name: Drymaria cordata (L.) Roem. & Schult. ( Caryophyllaceae ).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 3: 175. 1914) stated "Type in Herb. Linn." and Turrill (in Turrill & Milne-Redhead, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Caryophyllaceae : 11. 1956) made a similar statement. Later, Mizushima (in J. Jap. Bot. 32: 70. 1957) explicitly chose 109.1 (LINN) as lectotype and was followed by others. However, this sheet, as noted by Howard (Fl. Lesser Antilles 4: 211. 1988), is a post-1753 addition to the Linnaean herbarium, is not original material, and is not eligible for lectotypification of the name.
