Poecilimon inflatus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1891 View in CoL

Poecilimon inflatus Brunner von Wattenwyl (1891) View in CoL : 28.

P. inflatus View in CoL has a narrow range in the south-west corner of Anatolia and its range is geographically very heterogeneous. Some other lineages restricted to the same area, exhibit interesting patterns of diversity and the Demre district seems to be special ( Veith et al. 2008; Boztepe et al. 2013; Kaya et al. 2015). This speciality is also observed for P. inflatus View in CoL group and the extensive material showed that the Kemer-Demre population of P. inflatus View in CoL differs morphologically from that in the remaining western part of the range. We decided to indicate this diversity to the taxonomy of species by defining the Demre population as a separate taxon. As reproductive isolation between these forms needs further testing we defined the latter population as a separate subspecies, P. inflatus lyciae View in CoL subsp. n. Description of P. inflatus View in CoL was supplemented by Heller (2004) and is also valid for the new subspecies except for the diagnostic characters.

Karabağ (1958) reported this species from Bölüntü (Aydın Province of Turkey) on the basis of one male and one female. Although field studies by one of the authors (SK) has been done in this locality on the same date as reported no sample was found. This locality is far from the presently confirmed range of the species and needs confirmation. On the other hand it is difficult to assign it to any subspecies without examining the specimens.
