Germalus oroszi View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 /B, Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 )

Studied material. Type material. Holotype: “ IFAN / NIMBA ( Guinée) / Lamotte et Roy / VII-XII 51 ” (1♂, MNHN)

Colouration. Head generally ochraceous with small pale reddish regions on vertex surrounding ocelli. Eyes reddish, ocelli hyaline. Antennal segments I-III ochraceous, segment IV with pale reddish hue in apical 2/3. Labial segments ochraceous. Thorax. Pronotum and scutellum uniformly ochraceous with somewhat darker punctuation. Hemielytra semi-hyaline, unmarked. Abdomen. Abdominal terga with pale reddishcolouration, connexiva with irregular pale reddish spots.

Structure. Head dull, impunctate, pentagonal in dorsal view; covered with sparse, fine pubescence. Eyes stylate, eye-stalks touching anterior margin of pronotum. Ocular sulcus complete. Ocelli situated close to anterior margin of pronotum, near ocular sulcus. Clypeus rounded, exceeding the mandibular plate. Antennal segment I shortest, II longest, III and IV subequal (ratio of antennal segments: 5:16:11:13). Labial segment I almost reaching anterior margin of prothorax, apex of segment IV reaching metacoxae (labial segments ratio: 14:17:16:12). Thorax. Pronotum carinate, trapezoidal with a slight median impression. Surface of pronotum densely and strongly punctate except pronotal callosities, humeral angles and posterior margin; pronotum covered with fine, decumbent pubescence. Scutellum densely punctate except elevated triradiate carina; finely pubescent. Punctuation of both claval margins incomplete reaching at most the 1/3 of length. Claval commissure punctate entirely. Punctuation along cubitus, media and radius complete, surface between M and R densely and irregularly punctate. Punctures with fine, decumbent setae. Membrane with slightly elevated venation. Thoracic pleura punctate except a spot under anterior edge of pronotum and evaporative area. Auricle of metathoracic scent gland situated laterally, near anterior ridge of metapleuron. Abdomen sparse, decumbent, fine pubescence on connexiva, stronger erect setae on genital capsule.

Measurements (holotype). body length: 4.21; head length: 0.64, -width: 1.39; distance of ocelli: 0.39; antennal segments: 0.21-0.64-0.42-0.53; labial segments: 0.56-0.68-0.64-0.48; pronotum length: 0.93, -width: 1.32; scutellum length: 0.57, -width: 0.68.

Discussion. This species resembles Germalus kinbergi (Stål 1858) , the type species of the genus, but the colouration of G. oroszi is paler and the animal is less decorated. The most conspicuous character is the dense punctuation of the R-M region.

Etymology. The naming of the species is tribute to the work and 80th birthday of András Orosz, excellent Hungarian homopterist, our friend and researcher of the Hungarian Natural History Museum.
