Brachymeria kassalensis  (KIRbY): MASI 1951: 42; BOUčEk 1956: 228; PRINSLOO 1980: 161; NARENDRAN 1989: 261.

Material examined. Type material. Lectotype, here designated, a ♂ on a minutien pin, the unique specimen with this original labelling ' kassalensis  type [manuscript] / Kirby 2/83 / Chalcis kassal Kirby  / type [BMNH format] / B.M. TYPE HYM 5.147' (in BMNH). Other material. IRAN: Alborz, Kordan, Deh Varde, loc. 2, 20.vi.2012, (1 ♂) (in JIAU); same data, 20.viii.2012 (1 ♀ 1 ♂) (in CIRAD, GDEL0356 and GDEL0364); Fars, Larestan, loc. 3, 09.iv.2113, (1 ♀ 3 ♂♂) (in CIRAD: GDEL0377 and JIAU); Fars, Fasa, loc. 7, 15.vi.2013, (1 ♂) (in JIAU).

Distribution. Mostly Old-World tropics but also reaching the Palaearctic region. The CIRAD received for identification a number of specimens from Chad, Burkina Faso and Togo. New for the Iranian fauna.

Hosts. Several lepidopterous pests mostly belonging to macrolepidoptera such as Sphingidae  , Nymphalidae  , Hesperiidae  , Lymantriidae  and Noctuidae (Noyes 2017)  .
