Material examined. ROMANIA: Satu Mare county: Doba [stream], 47°45ʹ22ʺN 22°42ʹ05ʺE, 123 m a.s.l., 26. vi.2013, 2 ♂♂ (ap). Prahova county: Străoști [stream], 45°01ʹ51ʺN 26°13ʹ31ʺE, 136 m a.s.l., 30. vii.2012, 1 ♀ (ma).

Remarks. Data are insufficient to define its distribution in Romania. We found it occurring in two slow flowing shaded streams, both rich with Lemna sp. and Typha sp. The altitude does not exceed 150 m a.s.l. ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). It overwinters as an adult ( Wróblewski 1980). At both sites, it was found co-existing with M. reticulata .

General distribution. Holarctic species distributed from United Kingdom to northern China, Canada and the north of the United States. In Europe it reaches as far south as France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Ukraine being absent in southern Europe ( Putshkov & Putshkov 1996; Rabitsch & Zettel 2000; Aukema et al. 2013; Kment et al. 2013). New species for Romania.
