Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None.

Comments: This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. No references to this species are found within the available documentation. None of the species described in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis manuscript can be definitively attributed to the species in question. Pseudocaranx dentex occurs in the temperate waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Western Pacific ( Smith-Vaniz 2002).
