Definition

Niphatidae with an optical smooth surface, regular tangential ectosomal network with rounded meshes of a single size. Ends of choanosomal longitudinal primary fibres barely protruding. Spongin abundant. (Desqueyroux­Faúndez & Valentine, 2002).
