Lectotype (designated here): — VENEZUELA. Amazonas, Maroa en el Río Guainía , 19 February 1942, Ll. Williams 14427 (VEN-386!; isolectotypes: G-438344!, G-438345!, NY!, US-1859479!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the name of the herbarium where the type of F.maroana was deposited. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited Williams 14427 (VEN) as the holotype, which could be a lectotypification, but it occurred after 2001 and “designated here” or similar phrase was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Here, we designate Williams 14427 (VEN-386) as the lectotype because it contains branches, leaves, stipules, and syconia.
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
