Coccidohystrix burumandi Moghaddam

( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 , distribution map Fig. 66 I View FIGURE 66 )

Coccidohystrix burumandi Moghaddam in Moghaddam & Alikhani, 2009: 176.

Field characteristics: Found on upper leaf surfaces. Appearance not recorded.

Microscopic diagnosis: Slide-mounted adult female broadly oval. Anal lobes well developed. Antennae each with 9 segments. Legs well developed; hind leg with translucent pores on tibia and tarsus; claw with a denticle. Cerarii numbering 17 pairs, each situated on an elevated sclerotized plate. Anal lobe cerarii each containing 4 or 5 blunt conical setae, 2 or 3 very small blunt setae, and 1 or 2 small discoidal pores but no trilocular pores; anterior cerarii each with 6–8 conical setae, 2 or 3 small blunt setae and 1 or 2 small discoidal pores. Circulus and ostioles absent. Anal ring complete, bearing 6 setae.

Dorsum with sparse minute lanceolate setae. Dorsal cerarii similar to lateral cerarii, present medially on head, thorax and abdominal segments I‒VII; submedian series of dorsal cerarii present on head, thorax and segments I‒VI, and intermediate cerarii occurring between median and submedian cerarii on mesothorax and segments I–IV. Multilocular disc pores absent. Trilocular pores evenly scattered. Discoidal pores sparse. Oral collar tubular ducts absent.

Venter with slender setae. Openings of anterior and posterior spiracles each associated with over 100 compact, small trilocular pores and 2‒5 quinquelocular pores. Multilocular disc pores absent. Quinquelocular pores present posterior to vulva and across abdominal segments IV–VII. Trilocular pores evenly scattered. Discoidal pores sparsely present. Oral collar tubular ducts numbering about 4, situated in medial area of abdominal segment VI.

Distribution: Coccidohystrix burumandi is an Iranian species, recorded from Markazi province ( Moghaddam & Alikhani 2009).

Host-plants: Recorded on Euphorbia sp. (Euphorbiaceae) ( Moghaddam & Alikhani 2009).

Economic importance: None.

Natural enemies: Not recorded.

Comments: Coccidohystrix burumandi is similar to C. samui Kozár & Konczn é Benedicty and C. echinata (Balachowsky) ; it differs from C. samui by having (i) translucent pores on the hind tibia and tarsus (absent in C. samui ); and (ii) at most 8 setae on each cerarian plate (maximum 5 setae on C. samui ). It differs from C. echinata in having the apical seta shorter than an anal ring seta (apical seta longer than an anal ring seta in C. echinata ), and in having translucent pores on the hind tibia and tarsus (absent in C. echinata ).

Genus COCCURA Šulc

Tetrura Lichtenstein, 1882: 124 . Type species: Coccus rubi Schrank View in CoL , by original designation (a junior homonym). Coccura Šulc, 1908: 64 View in CoL . Rosanococcus Kanda, 1934: 311 . Mediococcus Kiritshenko, 1936: 144 . Calyptococcus Borchsenius, 1948a: 956 View in CoL .

Principal characters: In life, adult female covered with fine white wax powder; ovisac small, saucer-like. Slidemounted adult female broadly oval or almost hemispherical. Anal lobes only slightly developed. Dorsal surface of body sclerotized. Antennae each with 8 or 9 segments. Eyes prominent, each with a basal cone. Legs very small in comparison to body; claw with a denticle. Cerarii usually numbering 2–18 pairs, each usually with 2 or 3 enlarged setae and a few trilocular pores. Circuli large and oval, numbering 3 or 4. Posterior ostioles small. Multilocular pores, if present, restricted to venter of posterior abdominal segments. Quinquelocular pores present in medial zone of venter. Trilocular pores relatively few, present on both body surfaces. Simple discoidal pores scattered throughout. Oral collar tubular ducts of 2 types, invaginated bottle-shaped ducts and oral-collar type; both types usually present on both body surfaces. Dorsum with short setae; venter with long hair-like setae. Anal ring oval, with row of pores and 6 setae ( Kosztarab & Kozár 1988).

Comments: Worldwide, five species are included in Coccura ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; one species is known from Iran (Moghaddam 2015).
