Chorizococcus viticola Kaydan & Kozár

( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 , distribution map Fig. 66 H View FIGURE 66 )

Chorizococcus viticola Kaydan & Kozár in Fallahzadeh, Kaydan & Kozár, 2010: 158.

Field characteristics: Adult female body oval, light pink, with two white filaments at end of abdomen (Fallahzadeh et al. 2010).

Microscopic diagnosis: Slide-mounted adult female elongate oval. Anal lobes well developed. Antennae each with 8 segments. Legs well developed; hind leg with large translucent pores on tibia; tarsal digitules each pointed at tip and shorter than claw. Cerarii numbering 2 pairs, situated on last 2 abdominal segments; anal lobe cerarii each with 2 conical setae, 3−8 auxiliary setae and 34−49 trilocular pores. Circulus oval. Ostioles present.

Dorsum with long, stiff setae. Trilocular pores present throughout. Oral rim ducts present on head, thorax, and all abdominal segments except abdominal segment VIII. Oral collar tubular ducts present on segment VIII as a group on margin.

Venter with normal flagellate setae. Multilocular disc pores each with 10 loculi, present on posterior edges of abdominal segments IV−VIII + IX, not reaching to margin. Trilocular pores present throughout. Oral rim ducts present on margins of thorax and abdominal segments I and II. Oral collar tubular ducts usually present across abdominal segments II−VIII.

Distribution: Chorizococcus viticola is an Iranian species, recorded only from Fars province (Fallahzadeh et al. 2010).

Host-plants: The species has been collected on Vitis vinifera (Vitaceae) (Fallahzadeh et al. 2010).

Economic importance: In some parts of Fars province, C. viticola is the most important pest of grapevine. The damage caused by this pest has increased in recent years (Fallahzadeh et al. 2010), possibly in response to climate change.

Natural enemies: None recorded.

Comments: Chorizococcus viticola is similar to C. snellingi McKenzie in having a circulus and cerarii developed on abdominal segments VII and VIII, but differs by having translucent pores on the hind tibia only, whereas they are present only on the hind coxa in C. snellingi .

Genus COCCIDOHYSTRIX Lindinger

Coccidohystrix Lindinger, 1943b: 219 View in CoL . Echinococcus Balachowsky, 1936: 157 . Type species: Echinococcus echinatus Balachowsky View in CoL by original designation. Seabrina Neves, 1943: 1 View in CoL . Artemicoccus Balachowsky, 1953a: 147 View in CoL .

Principal characters: Slide-mounted adult female elongate to broadly oval. Antennae each with 7–9 segments. Legs well developed; claw with a denticle. Tarsal digitules long and flagellate. Cerarii on numbering 16‒18 pairs, each cerarius formed by an elevated sclerotized prominence bearing groups of enlarged conical setae, several minute discoidal pores, and 1 or 2 spine-like setae. Similar prominences, with enlarged conical setae, also present elsewhere on dorsum. Circulus absent. Ostioles absent. Multilocular disc pores and quinquelocular pores present on venter. Trilocular pores present on dorsum and venter. Oral rim tubular ducts absent. Oral collar tubular ducts present. Anal ring normally situated at apex of abdomen, the ring bearing 6 setae ( Williams 2004).

Worldwide, 19 species are included in Coccidohystrix ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; one species is known from Iran (Moghaddam 2009).
