Genus Ceroplastodes Cockerell, 1893 View in CoL

Type species: Ceroplastodes dugesii Cockerell, 1893 View in CoL

Ceroplastodes View in CoL is a New World genus, with the type species found in Mexico and some southern U.S.A. states; five other Ceroplastodes species occur in the New World. Of the non-New World species, C. melaleucae ( Green, 1900) View in CoL occurs in Australia and is not congeneric with C. dugesii View in CoL (Gullan & Hodgson in prep.); C. wandoorensis Yousuf & Shafee, 1988 View in CoL , is only known from the Andaman Is. and is very unlikely to belong to Ceroplastodes View in CoL , whilst C. ritchiei Laing, 1925 View in CoL and C. zavatarii Bellio, 1939 are known only from Africa. Both of these species are fully described by Hodgson (1971). Neither of them is congeneric with C. dugesii View in CoL , and here both are transferred to Drepanococcus Williams & Watson (1990) View in CoL as D. ritchiei (Laing) View in CoL comb. nov. ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ) and D. zavattarii (Bellio) comb. nov. ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ).
