Coloration ochraceous with brown markings on head, thorax and front wings, median spot on forewings welldeveloped.

Male genitalia. Pygofer longer than height, obtusely rounded posteriorly with macrosetae confined to posterior 0.33 length. Valve triangular , 1.8 times as wide at base as long medially, with conically rounded posterior angle. Subgenital plates with caudal membranous fingerlike process 0.35 as long as total length, laterally with a row of stout spines and marginal long hairlike setae. Apophysis of style almost straight, transversely rugose, subapical lobe well developed. Connective with stem slightly longer than arms. Aedeagal shafts without basal process, divergent in basal half and convergent in distal half in posterior view, each shaft with gonopore at mid-length, shaft beyond gonopore ribbonlike, with rounded apex.

Measurements. Male 3.5 mm long and 1.15 mm wide across eyes.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: Maharashtra: Lonawala, 4.x.1986, at light, Mayaram ( NPC).

Remarks. This species resembles H. sellatus (Uhler) externally, but has a rather poorly defined median spot on the forewings. Although Subba Rao & Ramakrishnan (1990) mentioned that the head is as wide as the pronotum, in the holotype studied, the head is wider than the pronotum and the previous authority omitted showing a cross vein between the claval suture and the outer claval vein.
