Type specimen. Holotype: Female , Indonesia, N. Sumatra, 7 km SE Prapat, 30 Aug. 1992, ca. 1,400 m, J.B. Heppner & E.W. Diehl, gen. slide no. CIS-5688.

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to Thubana bisignatella Walker, 1864 , which was described from Sarawak, Malaysia (type in NHMUK), in the superficial and genital characters, but it can be distinguished by the forewing with a distinctly developed pale-orange streak on the costa before apex, whereas in T. bisignatella the forewing has no such streak on the costa. The holotype of T. bisignatella deposited in NHMUK is illustrated for comparison ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE 6 ). The female genitalia are also similar to those of T. bisignatella but can be distinguished by the abdominal sternite VII not distinctly emarginated into U-shape and the antrum bowl-shaped, whereas in the latter triangular; and the spine of signum stronger and longer.

Description. Female ( Figs 6A, B View FIGURE 6 ). Wingspan 18.5 mm. Head: frons pale orange; vertex deep brownish orange, with same color of erect rough scales laterally. Antenna longer than forewing; scape elongated, deep brownish orange dorsally; flagellum shiny yellowish white, without annulations. Second segment of labial palpus thickened, arched, deep brownish orange on outer surface with orange-white apex, much paler on inner surface; 3 rd segment as long as 2 nd segment, dark brown ventrally. Thorax: tegula and thorax deep brownish orange dorsally. Hind tibia with deep brownish-orange scales dorsally; tarsi yellowish white throughout. Forewing ground color deep brownish orange; costal patch large, pale orange, triangular, lower corner extended to lower margin of discal cell, followed by a minute pale orange streak and larger streak extended to near apex; apex obtuse; termen oblique, sinuate; fringe deep brownish orange around apex and beyond half, mixing with pale range scales between R 5 and M 2. Hindwing ground color as same as that of forewing, without markings.

Female genitalia ( Figs 6D–F View FIGURE 6 ): Apophyses anteriores about 2/3 the length of apophyses posteriores. Abdominal sternite VIII emarginated medially. Antrum large, bowl-shaped, weakly sclerotized, with heavily sclerotized marginal plate distally. Ductus bursae extremely long, coiled several times in distal half, longer than more 5 times the length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate; signum formed with large plate of minute spinules, with a strong spine.
