(Klapálek handwrite, last row printed)) ; PARALECTOTYPE of Perla pictetii Blanchard, 1854 , gender unknown, present designation: CHILE ( NMPC, box IV.17) (Labels: Museum Paris / Chili / Gay 15-43 (printed); 15 / 43 (handwritten round label); Type (red, printed); Macrogynoplax / pictetii Bl. / Klapálek det. (Klapálek handwrite, last row printed)).

Remarks. None of the specimens bear original identification label by Pictet or Blanchard ( Figs. 25–26 ). However , the species is clearly identifiable on the basis of color pattern presented in the original figures and descriptions ( Blanchard 1851, 1854, Pictet 1841). On the basis of Pictet (1841), it would be presumed that description of Perla gayi refers to the same specimen(s) than those of the description and redescription of Perla pictetii by Blanchard (1851, 1854): was/were collected by Gay in Chile, and had been deposited in MNHN . But the specimens bear locality labels noting 15-43, that probably refers to Gay's final return to France in 1843. The Pictet types probably originated from the lots donated to MNHN by Claude Gay after his first return to France in 1832. Thus, it would be better to consider the present specimens only as the types of P. pictetii , whereas the P. gayi types still should be considered lost ( Zwick 1971). The name Perla Pictetii Blanch. (sic.) appears only on the plate of Atlas Zoológico ( Blanchard 1854), that was published three years after the original descriptions ( Blanchard 1851). In the text, the name appears as Perla Gayi Pictet (sic.). The name P. Pictetii Blanch. (sic.) is treated as a junior subjective synonym, with definite reference on the figure ( Blanchard 1851) - a very special case of synonymy stated before the year of original publication. Klapálek distinguished the two species ( Klapálek 1916), referring the types as Macrogynoplax pictetii Blanch. (sic.) whereas his M. gayi Pict. (sic.) refers to a non-type female specimen borrowed from Institute Royal Des Sciences Naturelles de Belgigue, Bruxelles ( ISNB) and now deposited in the NMPC (Labels: Chili / Rus (handwritten); M. R. Belg. (printed); Plesiotypus (printed); hard black label; Perla gayi (handwritten, maybe of Pictet)) ( Fig. 27 ).
