Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 A–E
Material studied. Holotype. Male. NEW CALEDONIA, Mont Nondoué, sclerophyllous forest, 3.vii.1992, Bonnet de Larbogne, Chazeau & Guilbert (in MNHN). Paratypes. 16 males, same data as holotype (13 in MNHN, 1 in SMNH, 1 in MZH, 1 in PWMP); 2 males, same data as holotype but 30.vi.1992 (in MNHN); 1 male, Rivière Bleue N.P., 150 m, humid forest on alluvials, Malaise trap, 26.iii.–9.iv.1987, Bonnet de Larbogne, Chateau & Tillier (in MNHN).
Description. Male. Head. Brown, maxillary palpus very pale brown, antenna pale brown. Eye bridge 3 facets wide. Face with 7 setae. Clypeus with 1 seta. Maxillary palpus with 3 palpomeres, first and third palpomeres subequal in length, second palpomere shorter; first palpomere with 1 long sharp seta, with dorsal patch of sensilla; second palpomere with 1 long sharp seta and 3–5 shorter truncate setae, third palpomere with 4–5 short truncate setae. Antennal flagellomere 4, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A: 2x as long as wide, neck slightly longer than wide, longest setae slightly longer than width of flagellomere. Thorax. Pale brown, pleura paler than scutum, setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 2–3 setae. Episternum 1 with 3–5 setae. Wing. Length 1.1–1.2 mm. Width/length 0.40–0.50. R1/R 0.60–0.75. c/ w 0.60 –0.75. r-m and bM faded in specimens, lengths not seen, both r-m and bM nonsetose. Haltere pale brown. Legs. Pale yellowish brown. Apical part of front tibia, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B: tibial organ with fine and pale vestiture, in shallow depression, forming indistinct row with a few scattered elements. Front tibial spur as long as tibial width. Abdomen. Pale brown, setae dark. Hypopygium, Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 C–E: pale brown, as abdomen. Gonocoxa slightly longer than gonostylus. Ventral setosity of gonocoxa sparse. Gonostylus elongated, mesial side slightly impressed; setosity sparse, apically with slightly thickened setae; without apical tooth, subbasally with strongly curved megaseta on narrow basal body. Tegmen wider than long, with distinct basolateral shoulders, aedeagus short.
Discussion. Keilbachia adstricta is similar to K. cracens (and possibly K. indigena ), and differs from K. constricta , K. fratercula and K. truncata in lacking any slender and truncate setae at the gonostylar apex. It differs from K. cracens and from all other Australasian species of the genus in having numerous thick setae, distinctly thicker than ordinary setae, at the gonostylar apex. Keilbachia adstricta differs from K. cracens also in having a denser setosity on the antennal flagellomeres ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 A, 2 A).
