Type locality.
"Im Gebiet des unteren Guadalquivir" [in the lower Guadalquivir river], Spain.
Remarks.
Rossmässler (1854) based this new variety entirely on Melanopsis sevillensis Grateloup, 1840, arguing that "Grateloup elevated this variety to species level without reason". Thus, Melanopsis turrita is an objective synonym of Melanopsis sevillensis .
