Type species. Lytta atrata Fabricius, 1775 (misidenti cation) = Meloe afer Linnaeus, 1767 , by monotypy (see Selander, 1991). 12 spp.
Geographic distribution. Mediterranean (from Morocco and Spain, east to Caucasus, Palestine and Iran).
