Worker. Length 2.5-3 mm.

Differing from the typical imbellis   HNS and the preceding variety in having the petiolar node distinctly longer in proportion to its width. The sculpture of the head, thorax and petiole is coarser and the postpetiole and base of the first gastric segment,, though feebly shining, are longitudinally reticulate-rugulose. The color is dark brown, with the mandibles, antennae and legs brownish or reddish yellow. One specimen has the postpetiole and gaster paler and more reddish than the head and thorax.

Described from three workers taken by Mr. A. M. Lea at Sydney, New South Wales.
