Captive specimen observed, taken from Channel Island reef, Darwin Harbour ( Fig. 16 ).

Acanthurus lituratus Bloch and Schneider, 1801: 216 (no locality (possibly Tahiti)).

New record for the NT, based on videotape recorded at Cobourg Peninsula National Park by Victor Gomelyuk (1999–2003); recorded from two locations: Sandy Island Number 1 and Ungalwik (bay between Black Point and Smith Point) ( Fig. 17 ).

Victor Gomelyuk (NRETAS) observed and videotape-recorded this species at Cobourg Peninsula (1999- 2003); unfortunately the videotape is lost.
