Habitat. Intertidal, on seagrass bed, dead coral, and sandy mud substrates.
Distribution. Wide distribution in the Indo-Pacific.
Indonesia: Sulawesi, Maluku and Lombok .
Remarks. This is a very common species of the intertidal, often found aggregated under large boulders during low tide. Calcinus latens is easily recognized in life by the bluish-green color of the shield and chelipeds, the ambulatory legs dactylus with dark brown or purple stripes proximally, the propodus is light brown, and carpus and merus are bluish green.

Townsend, from the west coast of North America and the Sandwich Islands, with descriptions of such species as are apparently new, among which are included several species of different localities, previously existing in the collection of the Academy.
