This species has a worldwide distribution: Angola, Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Canary Islands, Colombia, Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Hawaii, Honduras, Jamaica, Les Saintes, Marie­ Galante, Martinique, Mexico, Montenegro, Moto Quavarei, New Caledonia, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Saint­Martin, Tahiti, USA and Venezuela. The measurements of females and males collected in this study agree with those of Kreiter & Moraes (1997) and Moraes et al. (2000) for specimens collected in Guadeloupe.
