Diagnosis. The females can be distinguished from those of P. hakkiesdraadi by having the scutum and metasomal terga T1–T2 strongly and sparsely punctate. Further, the females of P. montagui and P. impunctata differ substantially from P. cincticauda in having the discs and margins of metasomal terga T1–T3 unpunctate (like in P. impunctata ) or conspicuously more densely punctate than the rest of the terga (like in P. montagui ). The most similar species are P. richtersveldi and P. doleritica . The females of P. cincticauda differ from those of P. doleritica in having a wider head. P. richtersveldi is characterised by a strongly convex scutellum, which forms a distinct depression anteriorly, whereas the scutellum of P. cincticauda is weakly convex and of normal size and structure. The male of P. cincticauda is unknown.

Description

Female. Bl = 8,1–8,2mm. General habitus ( Fig. 11e View FIGURE 11 ). Head. L = 2,0– 2,1mm; W = 2,5–2,6mm. Head wider than long ( Fig. 11a View FIGURE 11 ). Integument black except mandibles and malar area partly reddish–black. Face shiny and with loose long, greyish to yellowish, erect hairs. Mandibles bidentate. Clypeus and supraclypeal area convex in profile. Clypeus strongly and densely punctate (i = d). Clypeoantennal distance 0,5mm. Supraclypeal area strongly and densely punctate (i = 1,0–1,5d). Paraocular area shiny, strongly and densely punctate. Antennae mostly brownish. Mesosoma. L = 1,6–1,7mm; W (ITS) = 1,8–1,9mm. Integument black. Scutum shiny; disc strongly and densely punctate (i = d); surface partly chagreened anteriorly ( Fig. 11b View FIGURE 11 ). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 11c View FIGURE 11 . Scutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesepisternum and propodeum with greyish to yellowish, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 11c View FIGURE 11 ; propodeum shiny, strongly and moderately densely punctate. Marginal region of posterior truncation shiny; loosely punctate and finely sculptured. Wings. Hyaline. Legs. Integument mostly brownish. Vestiture mostly greyish. Ts moderately coarsely serrate, with about 10, oblique projections ( Fig. 11f View FIGURE 11 ). Bp broad; broadly rounded at apex ( Fig. 11g View FIGURE 11 ). Metasoma. L = 4,6–4,7mm; W = 2,6–2,7mm. Integument blackish-brown except the margins of T pallid brownish to pallid yellowish (usually T1–T2); margins partly translucent. T1–T4 with weak, greyish apical hair bands; the bands on T1–T2 mostly present only laterally ( Fig. 11d View FIGURE 11 ). Prepygidial fimbria yellowish.

Male. Unknown.

Published collection date (Oct. 1928) differs from label (07.–13.xi.1928).
