Description

Integument black, elytra with dark-blue reflections; prothorax orangish. Body covered by short, dense, yellowish pubescence; punctation fine, dense, deeper and more evident on elytra. Antennae exceeding abdominal apices by one segment in males, reaching one-quarter apex of abdomen in females. Scape short, enlarged to apices, depressed at base, slightly shorter than segment 3; segment 3 1.5 times as long as 4; segments 5–7 similar-sized; segments 8–11 gradually shorter. Prothorax rounded at sides, without tubercles. Pronotum subplane, without gibbosities. Elytra about three or four times as long as prothorax, with two feeble longitudinal carinae. First segment of protarsi one-third longer than second; first segment of mesotarsi 1.5 times as long as the second; first segment of metatarsi 2.0 times as long as the second. Two, almost three, last abdominal segments dorsally exposed.

Etymology. The species epithet “lustrata” (Latin for “illuminated”) refers to the elytra with dark-blue reflections.

Measurements in mm, holotype male/ paratype female. Total length, 11.0–12.0/12.2; prothorax length, 1.4–1.6/1.8; prothorax width, 1.3–1.5/1.7; elytral length, 5.8–7.0/ 6.8; humeral width, 1.5–1.7/1.7.

Type material. Holotype male, Brazil, Minas Gerais: Pedra Azul , November 1971, Seabra and Oliveira col. ( MNRJ) . Paratypes, same data as holotype, four males, one female ( MNRJ) .

Comments

This species differs from the others by the prothorax without tubercles, rounded at the sides; elytra short, about three or four times as long as the prothorax, and colour black with dark-blue reflections.
