Jogocerus Viraktamath View in CoL

Jogocerus Viraktamath, 1979: 17 View in CoL .

Type species: Jogocerus freytagi Viraktamath , by original designation.

Crown with round black spot on either side of midline. Mesoscutum with basal triangles black. Forewing brown, transparent; veins dark brown.

Head wider than pronotum. Crown short with median length as long as or slightly longer than length next to eyes. Crown, pronotum and upper area of face transversely rugose. Face wider than long; lateral frontal sutures present and extended to ocelli; anteclypeus broad subapically, as wide as long or slightly wider than long, surpassing apex of gena; lora normal; lateral margin of gena concave; antenna aristiform, not expanded apically or subapically; rostrum short, not reaching hind coxae. Combined length of mesoscutum and scutellum longer than pronotum. Forewing with 4 apical cells and 3 subapical cells, first subapical cell open, second and third closed; appendix broad, extended to third apical cell; clavus with 2 veins. Fore femur with short setae irregularly arranged. Fore tibia AD and PD setae sparse and short; AV and PV setae on apical 3/4, stout. Hind tibia with very stout and short AD setae 17–18, PD setae dense and long; AV setae 16–17, stout and long. Hind femur with 2+1 apical setae. Hind basitarsus with 2 platellae.

Male pygofer ventral margin with inner process; anal collar process developed; often with well-developed dorsal apodemes. Subgenital plate with hairlike setae on dorsal and ventral margins. Connective trilobed anteriorly, constricted near midlength, anterolateral arms each with two lobes, posterior end bilobed. Style curved dorsally, subapical area broad, ventral margin serrate; with or without short setae on dorsal and ventral margin. Aedeagus Jshaped, with pair of subapical processes directed toward base, dorsal apodeme developed; gonopore subapical on ventral surface.

Female with ovipositor as described by Viraktamath (1979).

Distribution. China (Hainan, Yunnan), India.

Remarks. This genus has the crown and pronotum rugose, and the style ventral margin serrate similar to that of Flexocerus Kuoh & Fang , but differs in having the frontoclypeus and anteclypeus not elevated, the gena lateral margin weakly concave and the aedeagal shaft straight or slightly curved.
