Type species. Papacrinus avignonensis n. gen., n. sp.

Etymology. From Pape (reference to Palais des Papes in Avignon).

Diagnosis. Stalk symplexies of balanocrine-type, crenularium relief weak with more than 10 crenulae per petaloid zone; thick nodals (H/D 0.3) without cryptosymplexy at distal articulation; deep, subcircular cirrus sockets much lower than nodal height.
