Type:— ARGENTINA. Misiones, San Ignacio, 21 March 1914, H. Quiroga 7714 (holotype S 04-2739!).
Perennial herbs, up to 1 m high, stems densely woolly on angles. Leaves sub-sessile, elliptic or ovate blade, 3–6 × 2–4 cm, acute or obtuse apex, obtuse base, dense strigose pubescence uniformly distributed on adaxial surface, densely woolly hispid pubescence uniformly distributed on abaxial surface, crenate-serrate margin. Capitula 1–1.5 cm diam., many-flowered, solitary, axillary to foliaceous bracts, peduncle 2–5(–7) cm long. Bracteoles 4–6 mm long, narrow ovate, stiff, glabrous. Calyx 4 mm up to 6 mm in fruit, exterior sub-glabrous, interior glabrous; teeth 1.5 mm long, sub-equal, deltoid, stiff. Corolla white, 5 mm long. Nutlets ovoid, 1.5 mm long, dark brown, smooth.
Distribution and habitat:—At present, the only collections known are those from Misiones, in the department of San Ignacio. It is an endemic species of Argentina.
