Dinotoperla View in CoL sp. NQLD4

( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 A–D)

Larva. Remarks. Morphologically and genetically distinct specimens but not associated with adults during this study. Location data suggest the specimens could be either a described species possibly: D. hybrida , D. kirrama , D. vulcania ; or an as yet described species. Genetically this species was sister to D. sp. NQLD1, D. sp. NSW2 and D. uniformis . Specimens deposited in ANIC

Material examined: Queensland: 1 x adult male: Douglas Creek on Tinaroo Creek Road. -17.0995, 145.52601. Collected : 5-May-11, Collectors: M. Shackleton & J. Mynott, Accession number: JMH1123. 1 x larva: Atherton Tablelands, Collected May-2011, Collectors: M. Shackleton & J. Mynott, Accession number: JMH1695.

Length: 5 mm.

Colour: Light brown.

Body: Robust; head and pronotum subequal; abdomen longer than thorax.

Head: Mottled head behind epicranial suture. Antennae as long as body; segments elongated near tip; some long fine setae possibly present on first 10 segments.

Thorax: Pronotum with dark mottling present. Meso- and meta-nota with pale bosses near base of wingpads; dark marking posterior to bosses. Nota without obvious setae present, one or two long fine socketed setae may be present on hind margin of meso- or meta-nota.

Legs: Femora and tibiae with fringe of long fine setae. Femora with two dark longitudinal stripes, one upper, one lower; broad darkened band in medio-distal area. Inner margin of tibiae with dark longitudinal stripe; thin dark band present in proximal area.

Abdomen: Tergites 3–9 with dark spot present off-centred, two spots per tergite. Tergites surface smooth, hind margin without setal fringe. Tergite X surface with small robust setae scattered, hind margin with fringe of similar setae. Hind margin with small raised knob. First segment of cerci long, one or two weakly developed margins; segment length exceeds width by approx. 7th segment; hairs as long as segments for first 10 segments. Gills orangebrown. Paraprocts margins straight; length 1.5 times basal width.
