Type Locality: México, Tamaulipas, 70 km (by highway) S Ciudad Victoria and 6 km W Panamerican Highway, El Carrizo.
Vernacular Names: Tamaulipan Woodrat.
Distribution: SW Tamaulipas and adjacent San Luis Potosí, México.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Neotoma , mexicana species group ( sensu Edwards and Bradley, 2002 b ). Specific status maintained by Birney (1973) but level of relationship to N. mexicana or to N. micropus unclear.
