sp. nov.

Promalactis seimana Kim , sp. nov.

( Figures 1 View Figure 1 (A), 2(D), 3(D), 4(D,Da–b))

Diagnosis

This species is close to P. serratiola sp. nov. in forewing pattern, but can be easily distinguished by the subbasal and antemedial bands not reaching the costal margin and the presence of the apical patch. The male genitalia are similar to the Nepalese species, P. raptitalella Lvovsky , but can be easily differentiated by the uncus with pointed apex, the costal margin without an incised part at the sub-apex, and the juxta with long spine-shaped lobes.

Description

Adult ( Figures 2 View Figure 2 (D) and 3(D)). Head: Frons brownish yellow. Vertex white basally, tinged with brownish yellow; occiput brownish pale yellow. Antenna with entirely white scape, half length of diameter of eye; fragellum dark brown tinged with pale white. Labial palpus with 2nd segment brownish yellow; 3rd segment dark brown as same length as 2nd segment. Thorax: Thorax brown. Tegula brownish yellow. Wing expanse 10.0– 10.5 mm. Forewing ground colour brownish yellow; two bands all white edged with fuscous scales: subbsal relatively broad, slightly arched toward wing base, not reaching to costal margin; antemedial straight and oblique towards wing base, from 2/5 of posterior margin toward 1/3 of costal margin, not reaching to costal patch at 3/4, reaching beyond half across wing, large, semi-circular; apical patch small, weakly developed; fuscous suffusion just before tornus; fringes grayish dark brown tinged with yellow near apex. Hindwing more or less lanceolate; ground colour pale grayish brown; fringes grayish brown.

Male genitalia ( Figure 4 View Figure 4 (D,Da–b)). Uncus bifurcate, lateral lobes tapering towards apex, as long as gnathos. Gnathos bifurcate, lateral lobes with blunt apex. Valva with costal margin slightly convex after middle; cucullus elongated with round apex, thumb-like; saccular margin setose after middle; saccullus elongated, dentate apex bearing dense hairs, longer than cucullus. Juxta with spine-like lobes laterally, 2/3 length of valva. Saccus funnel-shaped, as long as uncus. Aedeagus simple, 6/7 length of valva. Cornutus absent.

Female genitalia. Unknown.
