Hairs below basal half of hind femur longer than those of anteroventral row of outer half ( Fig. 230 View FIGURES 223–231 ). Hind tibia with a dozen moderately robust differentiated posterodorsal hairs, without anterodorsals, and spinules of apical combs simple. Wings ( Fig. 231 View FIGURES 223–231 ) 1.38–1.83 mm long. Costal index 0.32–0.33. Costal ratios 5.46– 5.76: 1.58–1.72: 1. Costal cilia (of section 3) 0.10 mm long. Vein 3 hair 0.05–0.06 mm long. 3 axillary bristles, the outermost being 0.14 mm long. Costal cilia 0.10 mm long, vein 3 hair 0.05–0.06 mm long, 4 axillary bristles, the outermost being 0.12 mm long. Otherwise it and haltere as male.

Recognition. In the key to the Megaselia males of the British Isles ( Disney 1989) it runs to triplet 218, but its yellowish thorax, shorter costal index and hypopygium excludes all 3 species. A further 9 excluded or subsequently described species run to the same triplet, but only M. jorgensis Disney has a yellowish thorax, but it has an unforked vein 3 and a different hypopygium. Our species does not key out in the rest of the world’s fauna.
