Hydropsyche ouederoum Botosaneanu 1975 was synonymized with this species by Dakki (1978), but the synonymy was questioned by Botosaneanu (1999). Although Arab (2004), Bemmousset et al. (2021), and Sekhi et al. (2016) reported this species from Algeria, no taxonomical study was done. More study is needed to resolve this synonymy question. The larva of this species has been described and diagnosed by Bemmoussat et al. (2021) and Dakki & Tachet (1987).

Material studied. ALGERIA, Blida, Hammam Melouane, Seghir Wadi (S6) (36°28’52”N, 3°03’00”E), 300 m a.s.l.: 22.ii.2013, 3 larvae ; 22.iii.2013, 5 larvae ( CSK11 ). Maktaa Lazreg, El Aach Wadi (S4) (36°28’17”N, 3°00’24”E), 200 m a.s.l.: 07.vi.2013, 2 larvae ( CSK12 ). Hammam Melouane, Badour Wadi (S8) (36°28’43”N, 3°04’07”E), 410 m a.s.l.: 22.iii.2013, 1 larva ( CSK13 ) .

Distribution. Algeria and Morocco.

Comment. This is the first record of this West Palearctic species in the study area ( Fig. 3 ). The species was collected in Algeria also in Mazafran Watershed (Arab 2004), in the Great Kabylia ( Sekhi et al. 2016), and in northwestern Algeria (Bemmoussat et al. 2021).
