Hab. West Africa (Fish Town, near Cape Palmas); Old Calabar.

There is a very close resemblance between A. arcens   HNS and A. Burmeisteri   HNS ; the distinctions are, that in the former the head is highly polished, perfectly smooth, entirely destitute of punctures or sculpture; in the latter the head is subopake and covered with a very delicate reticulation; the lateral angles of the emargination of the head posteriorly are subacute in A. arcens   HNS ; in the other species they are distinctly rounded.
