World distribution: China, India ( Bromley 1928: 3; 1935: 230; Oldroyd 1975: 144).

Note: The species-group name aurimystax Bromley, 1928 (currently considered a valid species in Machimus ), was recorded in both Asilus and Machimus by Joseph & Parui (1983a: 342, 354; 1990a: 47, 55; 1997a: 108, 114). We correct the duplication here and accept recognition of the species in Machimus .
