Key to species of Notogaster
1 Mesosoma and metasoma mostly to entirely dark brown to black (if there are lighter coloured areas, they are very small and localized), legs of variable colour but rarely entirely yellow.................................................... 2
- Mesosoma and metasoma with extensive areas orange, yellow or yellow-brown (including all or most of propleuron, pronotum, anteromesoscutum, mesopleuron, and usually T3 and most sternites), legs entirely yellow............................ 9
2(1) T2 more trapezoidal in shape, its width at posterior margin 1.2 × its median length; T2 very strongly sculptured and fore wing vein 1CUa 0.33 × as long as vein 1CUb and most of legs (including all coxae) dark brown to black......................................................................... Notogaster wornerae Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- T2 more transverse in shape, its width at posterior margin at least 2.2 × its median length (usually much more); either T2 smooth and/or fore wing vein 1CUa more than 0.5 × as long as vein 1CUb and/or legs extensively yellow.............. 3
3(2) Legs entirely to mostly yellow (at most with metacoxa partially to mostly brown).................................. 4
- Legs mostly dark brown (rarely with metafemur and metatibia completely or partially yellow)........................ 8
4(3) Gena unicolor or with very small, poorly defined spot that is almost indistinguishable from rest of gena................. 5
- Gena with pale spot relatively large and clearly distinguishable from rest of gena................................... 6
5(4) Metacoxa mostly brown; fore wing vein 1CUb 2.0–3.0 × as long as 1CUa; T2 comparatively more quadrate, its width at posterior margin 1.6–2.2 × its median length.................... Notogaster poultonae Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- Metacoxa entirely yellow; fore wing vein 1CUb 1.3 × as long as 1CUa; T2 comparatively less quadrate, its width at posterior margin 2.6–2.8 × its median length........................ Notogaster withersae Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
6(4) Distal flagellomeres comparatively longer, F14 length more than 2.0 × F14 width; OOL 1.2–1.4 × F14 length; clypeus coloration (yellow to yellow-orange) lighter than rest of face and propodeum with relatively clear and complete median carina (in addition to rugose sculpture on the whole propodeum surface); T1 comparatively thinner, its median length 3.0–4.1 × (rarely 2.9 ×) its maximum width; T2 comparatively more trapezoidal, its width at posterior margin 1.4–2.2 × (very rarely 2.4 ×) its median length; metafemur comparatively thinner, its length 4.8–5.2 × (rarely 4.4 ×) its maximum width....................................................................... Notogaster walkeri Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- Distal flagellomeres comparatively shorter, F14 length less than 2.0 × F14 width (usually around 1.5 ×); OOL 1.6–2.1 × F14 length; either with clypeus coloration (dark brown to black) similar to rest of face or propodeum with an irregular pattern of carination (partial median carina anteriorly and partial to complete areola apically, in addition to rugose sculpture on the whole propodeum surface); T1 comparatively broader, its medial length 1.9–2.5 × (rarely 2.8–2.9 ×) its maximum width; T2 comparatively more transverse, its width at posterior margin 2.5–3.5 × (rarely 2.4 ×) its median length; metafemur comparatively thicker, its length 4.1–4.3 × (rarely 4.4 ×) its maximum width.................................................. 7
7(6) Metacoxa brown to dark brown; clypeus coloration (dark brown to black) similar to rest of face; propodeum usually with rela- tively clear and complete median carina (in addition to rugose sculpture on the whole propodeum surface); fore wing vein r comparatively shorter, 0.3 × (very rarely 0.4 ×) as long as vein 2RS; ocelli comparatively smaller, OOL 3.3–3.8 × (very rarely 2.8 ×) DPO............................................. Notogaster toddae Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- Metacoxa usually yellow; clypeus coloration (yellow to yellow-orange) lighter than rest of face; propodeum with an irregular pattern of carination (partial median carina anteriorly and partial to complete areola apically, in addition to rugose sculpture on the whole propodeum surface); fore wing vein r comparatively longer, 0.5–0.6 × (very rarely 0.4 ×) as long as vein 2RS; ocelli comparatively larger, OOL 2.8–3.2 × DPO.................... Notogaster martini Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
8(3) Metafemur and metatibia completely or partially yellow (both clearly lighter in colour than metacoxa); T2 usually mostly sculptured; gena with pale spot clearly distinguishable from rest of gena on most specimens............................................................................... Notogaster sucklingi Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- Metafemur and metatibia (sometimes) mostly brown, similar in colour than metacoxa; T2 usually mostly smooth (especially on posterior 0.5); gena without pale spot......................... Notogaster avilai Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
9(1) Gena unicolor, without pale spot; mesosoma and metasoma with some darker areas................................................................................... Notogaster macdonaldae Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
- Gena with relatively large pale spot; mesosoma and metasoma mostly orange, yellow or yellow-brown....................................................................... Notogaster charlesi Fernandez-Triana & Ward , sp. nov.
