Cephennodes (Cephennodes) huapingensis sp. n.

Type material. Holotype: CHINA (Guangxi Prov.): ♂, two labels: " China: Guangxi Prov. / Lin'gui County / Huaping N.R. / Anjiangping / 14-VII-2011 / alt. 1400–1700 m / HE W.-J. & TANG L. leg." [white, printed]; " CEPHENNODES (s. str.) / huapingensis m. / det. P. Jałoszyński, '15 / HOLOTYPUS' [red, printed] ( SHNU). Paratype: 1 ♂, same data as holotype (cPJ).
Diagnosis. Frons between eyes with large and broadly V-shaped impression with diffused margins and between supraantennal tubercles with pair of elongate elevations; median lobe of aedeagus in ventral view with small and twisted apical projection.
Description. Body of male ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) strongly convex, oval with feebly marked constriction between pronotum and elytra, dark brown with slightly lighter legs and distinctly lighter palps, covered with light brown vestiture. BL 1.75–1.86 mm.
Head ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 9 ) broadest at moderately large but strongly convex and coarsely faceted eyes, HL 0.25–0.26 mm, HW 0.43–0.45 mm; vertex weakly and evenly convex and anteriorly demarcated from frons by impressed area of different punctation and vestiture; frons modified, with broadly V-shaped impression extending anteromesally from posteromesal margin of each eye, impression is gradually and not sharply demarcated from surrounding cuticle; frons at middle between eyes with fine and short longitudinal groove anteriorly not reaching level of supraantennal tubercles, frons between supraantennal tubercles with pair of elongate and slightly oblique longitudinal tubercles or elevations which, when head is seen in strongly posterodorsal view, appear as small horn-like projections; clypeus convex; supraantennal tubercles distinctly raised. Punctures on vertex small but sharply marked and separated by spaces 1.5–2× as wide as diameters of punctures, punctures on impressed area very fine and inconspicuous, surface matt, punctures on frons between interantennal tubercles denser and larger than those on vertex, punctures on clypeus similar to those on vertex. Setae on areas surrounding impressions and elevations sparse and moderately long, suberect; impressions with very fine and inconspicuous setae, frontal elevations asetose. Antennae long, three terminal antennomeres distinctly and gradually broadening, AnL 0.90–0.93 mm, antennomere I slightly shorter than broad, II twice as long as broad, III distinctly transverse, IV–V minimally broader than long, VI about as long as broad, VII twice as long as broad, VIII about as long as broad, IX–X each slightly transverse, XI distinctly broader than X, about as long as IX–X together, about twice as long as broad, with pointed apex.
Pronotum semi-oval, strongly convex at middle and strongly flattened near hind corners, broadest near posterior third; PL 0.55–0.60 mm, PW 0.78–0.80 mm. Anterior margin in strictly dorsal view nearly straight; lateral margins strongly and evenly rounded in anterior half and feebly rounded in posterior third, sides posteriorly slightly convergent toward nearly right-angled and acute posterior pronotal corners; posterior margin deeply bisinuate; lateral marginal carinae near posterior corners indistinctly demarcated from disc and narrowing anteriorly, lateral margins distinctly microserrate; lateral ante-basal pits shallow but distinct, each located much closer to posterior than to lateral pronotal margin. Punctures on median part of pronotal disc small but distinct, deep and with sharp margins, separated by spaces subequal to diameters of punctures; punctures toward anterior and posterior pronotal margins reducing in size and depth, laterally punctures becoming gradually larger, denser and slightly deeper, so that large area adjacent to each anterior corner is covered with coarse punctures separated by narrow wrinkles. Setae on pronotal disc long and moderately dense, suberect to erect.
Elytra about as convex as pronotum, oval, broadest near anterior third; EL 0.95–1.00 mm, EW 0.83–0.85 mm, EI 1.15–1.18; subhumeral lines carinate, sharply marked, as long as 0.35× EL and distinctly divergent caudad; basal elytral fovea on each elytron located at middle between lateral margin of mesoscutellum and subhumeral line; elytral apices unmodified, separately rounded. Punctures on elytra superficial and sparser than those on pronotal disc; setae distinctly longer than those on pronotum, dense and erect. Hind wings not studied.
Metaventrite without lateral impressions, convex.
Legs moderately long and slender; all tibiae nearly straight.
Aedeagus (Figs 14–15) simonis form, AeL 0.50 mm; median lobe in ventral view with subtriangular apical region which bears small twisted apical projection; apical projections short, in lateral view with weakly curved apical hook; parameres slender, each with one apical and two subapical setae.
Female. Unknown.
Distribution. SE China: Guangxi Province.
Etymology. Species named after the Huaping National Reserve.
Remarks. Cephennodes huapingensis differs from all other members of the Cephennodes impressifrons group in the presence of two longitudinal elevations or tubercles on the frons, in front of large impressed area with indistinct longitudinal groove.
