Remarks. Macrophthalmus verreauxi H. Milne Edwards, 1848 (a junior synonym of M. telescopicus Owen, 1839 ) was listed as occurring in the Hawaiian Is. by Sakai (1976), Davie (2002), and McLaughlin et al. (20005) although no previous records of M. (Macrophthalmus) telescopicus under this name are known from the archipelago.

Habitat. Soft sediments in shallow subtidal.
