Remarks. The Hawaiian populations are genetically distinct ( Malay & Paulay 2010) and appear to represent a distinct species ( McLaughlin et al. 2010: 24, note).

Geographical distribution. Across Indo-West Pacific region.

Habitat. Intertidal, shallow subtidal to 10 m.
