Distribution. A cosmopolitan species; widely distributed from South America, through Myanmar, South Africa to Australia ( Blakemore 2002).

Remarks. It is an introduced species, probably originates from South America ( Gates 1972). The species has been usually found in wet soils, together with E. kukenthali ( Thai 2000b) .
