Type locality:— NEW ZEALAND. South Island, Nelson, on the Golden [Gouland] Downs near head of the Aorere River. Type: [icon] Buchanan (1882: Plate XXXV) (lectotype designated by Allan 1961: 639).

Notes:— Allan (1961: 639) mentioned as a type the illustration accompanying the original description because he was unable to locate the original specimens collected by J. Dall mentioned by Buchanan (1882). I could not find the other type material either .
