Type:— NEW ZEALAND. Middle [South] Island, Otago, Lake District, alpine, 1864, Hector & Buchanan 12 in Herbarium Hookerianum (lectotype K 882081 [image!] designated by Allan 1961: 625).
Notes:— The lectotype ( K 882081 ) is on the same sheet as two specimens collected by J. Haast but without detailed locality information. K 882079 [image!] indicates “ Canterbury ”, and K 882080 [image!] has no information. However, most likely, those two specimens correspond to the other two syntypes mentioned by Hooker , Hopkins River , and Mt Darwin (both in Canterbury).
