Types. Adorium maculatum . Types of Adorium maculatum could not be found at the MNHN where most of Olivier’s types were deposited (Antoine Mantilleri, 27.V.2016, personal communication), and are presumed lost after other potential repositories were consulted. Since O. maculata and the O. tarsata species group are similar and may be confused with each other, designation of the neotype is necessary to maintain nomenclatural stability and reduce taxonomic confusion. One specimen housed at the RMNH is designated as the neotype ♀, labeled: “ Java-H. Lucht / Kendeng Geb. [p] / I.1920 [h, w] // coll. F.C. / DRESCHER [r, w] // RMNH Leiden / ex collection / ZMAN [p, w]”.

Adorium subhemisphaericum . Types of Adorium subhemisphaericum could not be found at the MNHN, where most of Guérin-Méneville’s types were deposited (Antoine Mantilleri, 27.V.2016, personal communication), and are presumed lost after other potential repositories were consulted. The designation of a neotype is necessary to maintain nomenclatural stability. One specimen housed at the RMNH is designated as the neotype ♂, labeled: “Java-H. Lucht / Kendeng Geb. [p] / I.1920 [h, w] // coll. F.C. / DRESCHER [r, w] // RMNH Leiden / ex collection / ZMAN [p, w]”.

Redescription. Length 11.7–12.4 mm, width 9.1–10.0 mm. General color ( Figs 50A–50C View FIGURE 50 ) yellow; apical half of antennomeres VII, and VIII–XI, and sides of metasternum darker; each abdominal ventrite with one pair of small black lateral spots. Antennae filiform in males ( Fig. 51A View FIGURE 51 ), antennomere III much longer than subsequent ones, III–VII slightly serrate, VI–X stout, length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.6: 1.0: 0.8: 0.7: 0.6: 0.6: 0.6: 0.6: 0.6: 0.7, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 2.4: 1.6: 2.9: 2.3: 1.8: 1.8: 1.8: 1.7: 1.6: 1.7: 2.5; similar in females ( Fig. 51B View FIGURE 51 ), length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.6: 1.0: 0.9: 0.8: 0.8: 0.8: 0.7: 0.6: 0.6: 0.8, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 2.8: 2.0: 3.0: 2.8: 2.2: 2.2: 2.2: 1.9: 1.8: 1.8: 2.5.

Pronotum transverse, 2.2x wider than long, disc with sparse, fine punctures, baso-lateral angles obtuse, apicolateral angles widely rounded, apical margin moderately concave. Elytra oval, widest near base, 1.1x longer than wide; epipleurae located at 2/3 between suture and lateral margins. Penis ( Figs 51C–51F View FIGURE 51 ) elongate, 6.1x longer than wide; parallel-sided, strongly narrowed at apical 1/3; apical margin truncate; tectum reduced; slightly curved in lateral view, apex a little swollen; endophallic sclerite complex comprising one apical sclerite, triangular, apex rounded in lateral view. Apical margin of abdominal ventrite V in female slightly rounded or truncate. Gonocoxae reduced. Ventrite VIII ( Fig. 51J View FIGURE 51 ) longitudinal, apical margin rounded, truncate or slightly depressed at middle, with dense, long setae along apical margin, lateral margins membranous, spiculum long. Receptacle of spermatheca ( Fig. 51K View FIGURE 51 ) as wide as pump, connected to pump; pump strongly curved, apex broadly rounded; proximal spermathecal duct sclerotized and short, narrower than receptacle, covered by stout teeth.

Variation. Males from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, and Nepal possess separate, hooked endophallic sclerites in males ( Figs 51G–51H View FIGURE 51 ) and separate, minute, semicircular gonocoxae in females ( Fig. 51I View FIGURE 51 ).

Diagnosis. Members of this species are similar to those of the Oides tarsata species group based on the yellow and broadly oval elytra, but those of this species differ in possessing yellow metepisterna and broad antennomeres VIII–X (less than 2.0 x longer than wide). In males, the aedeagi of O. maculata differ from those of members of the O. tarsata species group in possessing well sclerotized and truncate apex of the ventral surface (with membraneous area and notch in O. tarsata species group), and only one endophallic slcerite (one pair of endophallic sclerites in O. tarsata species group).

Remarks. Oides indica Baly, 1879 is distinct species from O. maculata ( Olivier, 1807) synonymized with O. tarsata ( Baly, 1865) in the present study. Since Oides maculata was synonymized with O. indica ( O. tarsata species group) by Gahan (1891), published collecting localities of O. maculata since 1891 are not reliable.
