Genus Parendacustes Chopard, 1924 View in CoL
Parendacustes Chopard, 1924: 190 View in CoL .
TYPE SPECIES. — Parendacustes cavicola Chopard, 1924 .
DISTRIBUTION. — Genus mostly diversified in Papua New Guinea and Malaysia, and known from the Nicobar Islands in the West to New Caledonia in the East. It is reported here from the Vanuatu for the first time.
Two species are present in our samples by juveniles only. They are tentatively placed in the genus Parendacustes , to which they are broadly similar (size, number of tibial spurs and shape of male pseudepiphallic sclerite in sp. 1). As Parendacustes lifouensis Desutter-Grandcolas, 2002 , their number ofTIII subapical spurs is reduced compared to other species of the genus, with 3-4 outer and 1-2 inner spurs (three outer and two inner subapical spurs in P. lifouensis ).
