sp. nov.

Kinrentius peruvianus sp. nov.

( Figures 4–6 View FIGURES 1–6 , 17–25 View FIGURES 17–25 )

Type locality: Tambopata , Madre de Dios, Peru .

Diagnosis: Male pygofer posterior margin with a long acute posterior process (PP); ventral margin with anteroventral process (AVP) long, posteroventral process (PVP) very short, tooth-like ( Figs 17–19 View FIGURES 17–25 ).Aedeagus weakly constricted sub-basally; dorsal surface with long median keel at apical half ( Figs 23, 24 View FIGURES 17–25 ); without pronounced dorsal projection at mid-length; paired apical processes, in caudal view, each subquadrate, with apical portion weakly sclerotized and apical margin approximately straight and slightly serrated ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 17–25 ).

Length: 8.7–9.0 mm

Coloration: Color pattern as in Kinrentius catuaba sp. nov.

External morphology: Distance between ocellus and eye subequal to diameter of ocellus ( Figs 4, 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Clypellus lateral margins somewhat parallel ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Protibia row AD with 6 robust macrosetae. Metatarsomere I pecten with four platellate setae between AV and PV. Other characters as in the generic description in Wei et al. (2010).

Male genitalia: Pygofer in lateral view, subquadrangular, as long as tall; posterodorsal angle acutely rounded; posterior margin with a long acute posterior process (PP in Fig. 18 View FIGURES 17–25 ); ventral margin with two processes: anteroventral long (AVP) and posteroventral short, tooth-like, curved inwardly (PVP) ( Figs 17–19 View FIGURES 17–25 ). Style with fine and long setae on preapical lobe; apex sclerotized, acuminate, curved ventrally ( Figs 21, 22 View FIGURES 17–25 ). Aedeagus weakly constricted sub-basally; lateral shelf-like area relatively long; dorsal surface with long keel at apical half ( Figs 23, 24 View FIGURES 17–25 ); without pronounced dorsal projection at midlength; paired apical processes, in caudal view, each subquadrate, with apical portion weakly sclerotized and apical margin approximately straight and slightly serrated ( Fig 25 View FIGURES 17–25 ).

Female terminalia: Female unknown.

Etymology: The new species’ epithet refers to its Peruvian distribution.

Notes: Kinrentius peruvianus sp. nov. is similar to K. bispinosus and K. catuaba sp. nov. (see notes in previous species). However, the new species can be distinguished from other Kinrentius by the short tooth-like posteroventral process (PVP) of male pygofer ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 17–25 ), aedeagus without a pronounced dorsal projection at mid-length and apical processes subquadrate with apical margin straight and slightly serrate ( Figs 23–25 View FIGURES 17–25 ).
