Redescription. Measurements (n=6): maximum width of head including eyes: 0.67–0.70; length of head (from base of labrum to neck constriction along midline): 0.52–0.67; length of antenna (holotype): 1.58; ocular length (longitudinal): 0.22–0.26; length maximum width of segments 3 and 4 of maxillary palpus (holotype): 3: 0.04 0.04; 4: 0.17 0.04; length of pronotum: 0.71–0.75; maximum width of pronotum: 1.27–1.40; sutural length of elytra (from apex of scutellum to posterior margin of sutural angle): 1.67–1.77; maximum width of elytra: 1.72–1.95; length of metatibia (holotype): 0.92, length of metatarsus: 0.55 (metatarsomeres 1–4: 0.40; metatarsomere 5: 0.15); maximum width of abdomen: 1.70–1.80; length of aedeagus (from phallobase to apex of parameres): 0.85; total length (from anterior margin of clypeus to apex of abdomen): 3.95–4.75 (holotype: 4.42).

Habitus as in Fig. 1 View FIGURES1–2 . Head, scutellum, basal and apical portions of elytra brown; antennomeres 4–11, pronotum and disc of elytra yellow-brown; abdomen reddish yellow; ocelli, mouthparts, antennomeres 1–3, paratergites, apical abdominal segment and legs yellow (holotype paler, reddish brown, with yellow lateral portions of pronotum and paratergites). Head with irregular and variable small punctation distinctly denser on infraorbital ridges and sparser between ocelli; neck with very sparse small punctation; punctation of pronotum denser and slightly deeper than that on head and neck, somewhat smaller and sparser on median and postero-lateral portions; scutellum without or with several very small punctures; punctation of elytra slightly larger than that of pronotum, on median part of each elytron near suture arranged into three very indistinct longitudinal rows, punctation of apical third of elytra near suture, apical and latero-apical margins distinctly sparser.

Head about as wide as long or slightly wider than long, with very short small grooves in front of ocelli; head sharply narrowed toward neck behind moderately sharp postocular ridges; distance between postocular ridge and posterior margin of eye as long as two nearest facets; anterolateral portion of head between antennal insertion and anterior margin of eye with evenly wide semicircular notch; distance between ocelli twice as long as distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Apical segment of maxillary palpi three times as long as preceding segment. Antenna with elongated antennomeres 1–8; measurements of antennomeres (holotype, length width): 1: 0.15 0.07; 2–3: 0.13 0.05; 4– 5: 0.15 0.06; 6–8: 0.14 0.06; 9–10: 0.14 0.07; 11: 0.15 0.07.

Pronotum 1.7–1.8 times as wide as long and about twice as wide as head, widest near middle, gradually narrowed anteriad; anterior angles widely rounded, posterior angles more or less obtuse; mediobasal portion of disc of pronotum with vague small paired oval impressions.

Elytra slightly widened posteriad, as long as wide or slightly wider, extending to apical margin of abdominal tergite III or IV, with narrowly explanate lateral portions.

Metatarsi 1.5–1.6 times as long as metatibiae.

Abdomen very convex, narrower than elytra, with a pair of small oval tomentose spots on middle of abdominal tergite V; abdominal intersegmental membranes between segments IV–VI long, covered by brickwall-like sculpture.

Male. Apical margins of abdominal tergite VIII and sternite VIII slightly sinuate. Aedeagus ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES3–4 ) with wide basal part gradually narrowed toward moderately small rounded apex; parameres thin, extending significantly beyond apex of aedeagus; endophallus very long and wide, coiled in sagittal plane within median lobe, covered with small sharp teeth. Female. Apical margins of abdominal tergite VIII and sternite VIII slightly rounded or straight.

Comparative notes. Based on the body size, shapes of the head and elytra, on the similar punctation of the pronotum and elytra, on the presence of short grooves and shape of postocular ridges, O. nepalicum is similar to the Chinese O. sinense Scheerpeltz, 1929 ( sinense group of species by Scheerpeltz (1929)), described from “Umgebung von Shanghai, from which it differs by the paler coloration, more transverse pronotum, and shape of the aedeagus with significantly longer parameres.

Distribution. The species is known from several localities in West and Central Nepal ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES1–2 ).

Bionomics. The specimens from central Nepal were collected from elevations 2200 to 2700 m a.s.l. Specimens from Dhaulagiri were collected from elevation 3050 m a.s.l., in ravine forest ( Tsuga , Taxus , Acer , Betula ) beside a stream, by sifting leaf litter (J. Schmidt, pers.comm.).
