Triraphis doncombi is named in honor of Dr. Don Comb (RIP), founder of the New England Biolabs and New England Biolabs Foundation, in recognition of his serious and ongoing support for the management and biodiversity conservation of Área de Conservación Guanacaste in northeastern Costa Rica (http://www.acguanacaste.ac.cr), through the Guanacaste Dry Forest Conservation Fund (http://www.acguanacaste.ac.cr).
