Current status. Valid species.

Etymology. Anomala schaefferi is a replacement name for the primary junior homonym Anomala tibialis Schaeffer, 1906 . The species is dedicated to Charles Schaeffer, the author who first recognized this taxon as distinct.

Literature records. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: Texas ( Schaeffer 1906; Casey 1915; Machatschke 1957, 1972; Potts 1977a, 1977b; Riley & Wolfe 2003).

Remarks. The species was only known from the female holotype with unknown locality in Texas, until Riley & Wolfe (2003) reported one specimen from Padre Island , Kleberg County, Texas, which is deposited in the Texas A & M University Collection (College Station, Texas, United States of America).
