A very widely distributed species from northern Canada throughout USA, the Caribbean, Central America and south to Argentina ( Gauld, 1988). It seems to be most common in disturbed and agricultural areas, where it parasitizes several lepidopteran larvae. In Cuba it has been reported as parasitoid of Heliothis zea (Boddie) and Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) View in CoL , both of them noctuids ( Bruner et al., 1945).

This is the commonest of the three species in the Enicospilus ramidulus speciesgroup found in the country. It can be differentiated from E. neotropicus by presence of a central sclerite, and from E. cheoi by position of cua (see further remarks on the latter species).
