Xizicus (Eoxizicus) uncicercus Mao & Shi View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )

Male. Body small, medium sized for the genus Xizicus . Fastigium of vertex conical, apex obtusely rounded, with an obviously longitudinal furrow dorsally. Eyes oval, obviously protruding. Apical segment of maxillary palpi slightly longer than subapical segment, apex faintly enlarged.

Pronotum short, anterior margin relatively straight, posterior margin rounded, metazona flattened, lateral lobe longer than high, humeral sinus shallow. Thoracic auditory spiracles exposed. ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A–B).

Femora of all legs unarmed on ventral surface. Procoxae with 1 spine; internal and external sides of ventral surface of protibiae with 5 spines and 6 spines respectively, tibial tympana open on both sides; mesotibiae bearing 5 spines and 6 spines on internal and external sides of ventral surface respectively; posttibiae with 31 and 34 spines on internal and external sides of dorsal surface respectively, with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs.

Tegmina macropterous, narrow and long, apices obtusely rounded, about 2/3 of stridulatory area covered by pronotum; hind wings longer than tegmina.

Tenth abdominal tergite with 1 pair of comparatively long and parallel processes on posterior margin, these curved downwards, apices obtuse, with a deep notch between them ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C–D). Cerci long, base stout, cylindrical; separated into internal and external branches near middle portion, internal branch as about the same thin as external one, but longer, notably curved inwards, apex acute; external branch approximately cylindrical, slightly curved inwards, obtuse apically ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C–E). Subgenital plate nearly rectangular, longer than broad, with posterior margin concave. Styli relatively long and stout, located on both lateral apices, obtusely rounded apically ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D–F).

Coloration. Body green. Disc of pronotum with 1 pair of longitudinal darkish brown stripes on lateral margins. Spines on ventral surface of protibiae and mesotibiae brown, all spines and spurs of posttibiae darkish brown, the third tarsi and claws of all legs brown, genicular lobes of postfemora equipped with a black spot apically, posterior margin of tegmina darkish brown.

Female. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype: male, Gulinjing, Maguan, Yunnan, 20 July, 2006, collected by Hao-Yu Liu.

Measurements (mm). Body: ♂14.6; pronotum: ♂4.8; tegmina: ♂20.2; postfemora: ♂11.8.

Etymology. The new specific name relates to the morphology of the internal branch of the male cercus, which is strongly curved inwards.

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to Xizicus (Eoxizicus) tinkhami Bey-Biyenko, 1962 , but differs from it in: processes of male tenth abdominal tergite comparatively longer and parallel, far from each other, apices obtusely rounded, with a deep notch between them ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C–D); internal branch of cercus longer and thinner, curved inwards ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C–E); posterior margin of subgenital plate concave ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E–F).

Distribution. China (Yunnan).
