Diagnosis

All three pairs of inner prodorsal setae very short or minute. Sensillus long, its head club-shaped, with some acicules or short cilia. Dorsosejugal suture complete. Four pairs of large, distinctly framed porose areas and a median pore present on the notogaster. A polygonal field visible below the sublamellar line. A longitudinal line present on both genital plates. Area porosa postanalis small, roundish.

Material examined

Holotype Kenya, Muguga , near Nairobi, 20 November 2004. Leg. Cs. Csuzdi (Afr- 978). Five paratypes from the same sample . Holotype (1698-HO-2005) and four paratypes 1698-PO-2005): HNHM, one paratype: MHNG .

Measurements

Length of body 373–412 Mm, width of body 285–308 Mm.

Prodorsum

Rostrum wide, simply roundish. Lamellar and sublamellar lines visible also in dorsal view. Prodorsal setae short, lamellar and interlamellar setae minute, rostral setae much longer than the others. All simple, smooth. Peduncle of the sensillus long, curved, directed mostly outwards. Its head club-shaped, irregularly aciculate. Porose areae dorsosejugalis comparatively small, elongate.

Notogaster

Dorsosejugal suture distinctly arcuated, convex. Ten pairs of clearly visible alveoli of notogastral setae, an unpaired median porus and four pairs of porose areas present. Porose area Aa, the largest, elongated, porose areas A 1 and A 2 round, smallest area, A 3, longer and larger than the previous ones ( Figure 10A View Figure 10 ). Lyrifissures ia located medially.

Lateral part of podosoma

Lamellar and sublamellar lines run parallel, near each other, the distance between them small ( Figure 10C View Figure 10 ). Lines T and E are present. A field between the lamellar lines and pedotecta 1 ornamented by polygonal sculpture.

Ventral regions ( Figure 10B View Figure 10 )

Epimeral setal formula 1-1-2-1. All setae in the ventral regions very short. On the anterior margin of the genital plates only two pairs of setae inserted. Both genital plates with a longitudinal line, which do not reach the posterior margin of the plates. Lyrifissures iad in adanal position. A small, unpaired porose area postanalis also present.

Remarks

On the basis of the very short prodorsal setae, the convex dorsosejugal suture and of the dilated sensillus, the new species resembles the ‘‘ sabahna ’’ species group ( Mahunka 1995). However, the new species is distinguished from all species of this group by the form of the notogastral porose areas. The exobothridial polygonal pattern also unique in this species group.

Etymology

Named after the peculiarly short lamellar and interlamellar setae.
