An Oriental species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Suidae ; larvae and nymphs are commonly recovered from Rodentia : Muridae . All parasitic stages have been collected from Carnivora : Canidae , and Lagomorpha : Leporidae ; adults and immature stages have been taken from Carnivora : Felidae , Herpestidae and Ursidae ; adults alone have been found on Artiodactyla : Suidae ; while immature stages have been collected from Mammalia (several orders), and Aves (several orders). There are no records of Haemaphysalis kinneari causing human parasitism.

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) list the larva of Haemaphysalis kinneari as undescribed, but the description listed above and published before 1998 is treated as valid here. Trapido et al. (1964b) state that the description of the female of Haemaphysalis kinneari in Toumanoff (1944) corresponds, in fact, to Haemaphysalis papuana .
